Final Update

The San Francisco marathon was a great experience. My time was not very fast, 4:26, but I enjoyed the race and it felt good to run a marathon again. My friends and I went to Napa the day after the race and had a great time tasting wine and eating great food.

Hood to Coast Relay was last weekend. My team, "It Smells Like Team Spirit" had a blast. My IT Band flared up a few days before the race and that scared me to death because there's not much you can do if it flares up in the middle of a run. However, I iced and rested before Hood to Coast and then took it easy on the first leg of the relay. It worked. My IT band was fine during the whole relay. The weather was great too. The week prior to Hood to Coast, the temperatures were in the 100 degree range which is not common for Oregon.

I don't know if anyone is reading this or will read it. I don't exactly have a lot of readers and I haven't fostered relationships with the ones I have. That leads me to the next big thing. I won't be blogging anymore. I will probably stop by your blogs from time to time and you know who you are but this is it for me.

What's next? I see a couple of half marathons on my horizon in the next months but other than that, I don't know. I'm still single and now nearly 40 which shocks me. Single and 40 wasn't how I pictured my life working out. But I come and go as I please and have nobody to blame for anything except myself. It's lonely and liberating at the same time. Most days I strive to be courageous in my outlook but end up somewhere between courage and bravado. I've learned bravado is about as good as it gets.

OK, first things first. It saddens me that you won't be blogging anymore, but you have to do what you feel is best for you, so if that is your decision then that's good enough for me. I do hope you will stay in touch! You're one of the first people that I "met" through the world of blogging, and I really value your friendship.

That's great news about the marathon, and I'm glad that you were able to do the relay without a problem. I still hold out hope that maybe one day I can run again.

As far as being single and almost 40? I hear ya on that one. Not exactly how I thought things would work out for me either. But it is what it is. I'm well along the path to acceptance. It ain't so bad.

Please stay in touch, Michelle, and may many good things come your way!
